Abstract

International guidelines recommend switching toa new drug regimen including at least two new anti-HIV compounds as soon as virological failure is recognizedunder any antiretroviral treatment. Followingthis advise, no more than three consecutivechanges can be provided to patients failing ontreatment, since the number of drugs currentlyavailable are limited and, of note, some of themshow a high degree of cross resistance.
