During the summer, the antiviral activity of nonnucleosideshas been open to new indications inHIV-infected persons. First, during the workshop onDrug Resistance (San Diego, June 23-26), Casadoet al. (Abstract 114) demonstrated that nearly onethird of nevirapine-resistant clinical isolates remainsusceptible to efavirenz. So, rescue therapy withother NNRTIs should be explored in more detail inpatients failing nevirapine.
