Abstract
The Royal Society organised a discussionmeeting in London 12-14 September 2000, onthe origin of HIV and the AIDS Epidemic. Themeeting intended to investigate the scientificsupport for the hypothesis that HIV originateddue to accidental transfer into humans of SIVcpz,as a result of oral polio vaccination trials in centralAfrica during the late 1950s.
