Although HAART has greatly reduced the appearanceof many AIDS-related complications, itdoes not appear to have reduced the incidenceof non-Hodgkin’s lymphomas (NHL). In fact, inthe recently published US Remune trial (Kahn etal. JAMA 2000; 284: 2193-202), the follow-up of2527 HIV+ subjects over 2.5 years since 1996has shown an unexpected high incidence of NHL.Lymphomas were the second most common clinicalprogression event in the study after oral candidosis.
