New Hopes for Saquinavir

Saquinavir (SQV), formulated as hard-gelatincapsule (Invirase), was the first protease inhibitor(PI) available for the treatment of HIV infection.This formulation, however, has low oral bioavailabilityand mild antiviral activity in vivo.Subsequently, SQV became available as softgelatincapsule (Fortovase), which has improvedbioavailability.
