Abstract
The NEFA trial was a randomized study in which460 HIV-infected patients taking two nucleosideanalogs plus at least one protease inhibitor, andhaving undetectable plasma HIV-RNA for longerthan six months were randomized to switch to nevirapine(n = 155), efavirenz (n = 156), or abacavir(n=149). The results at one year had been reportedearlier (Martinez, et al. N Engl J Med 2003;349.
